Resource Management
The Yuma Area Office maintains over 1,000 existing contracts, use authorizations, permits and other legal instruments associated with land, water, and power. Annually hundreds of inquires are received for existing agreements as well as request for new ones.
A major focus is environmental stewardship. Compliance is ensured for Federal and state regulations such as the Clean Air Act, Clean Water Act, Endangered Species Act, National Environmental Policy Act, and the National Historic Preservation Act. Consultations are conducted with stakeholders and projects and programs are developed and implemented consistent with the Lower Colorado Region’s Multi-Species Conservation Program. Outreach programs to water districts, tribes, schools, and civic organizations are also conducted to demonstrate and promote water conservation and canal safety.
