Summary: | The Bureau of Reclamation in coordination with the Friant Water Authority (FWA), the Operating Non-Federal Entity of the Friant-Kern Canal (FKC), proposes to restore the capacity of a 33-mile long section (milepost 88 to milepost 121) of the FKC located within Tulare and Kern Counties. Under the Proposed Action, approximately 10 miles of the existing canal would be widened and/or raised and approximately 23 miles of the canal corridor would be realigned to newly-constructed canal segments. Under the Proposed Action, Reclamation would provide cost-share funding for the project pursuant to the San Joaquin River Restoration Settlement Act (Public Law 111-11 Section 10201) and the Water Infrastructure Improvement for the Nation Act (Public Law 114-322 Section 4007). |
