Phoenix Area Office - Programs & Activities
Program Development and Studies throughout Arizona
The Program Development Division of the Phoenix Area Office is responsible for water resource planning activities within its geographical area of responsibility throughout Arizona. The federal objective in water resource planning is to achieve a structured approach to water resource problem-solving and provide a rational framework for sound decision-making.
The Program Development Division works with communities, organizations, tribes, states, and stakeholders seeking technical assistance from the Bureau of Reclamation. Division staff assist in the planning process and conduct general water resource investigations, including appraisal, special, and feasibility studies. Special emphasis on supply and demand imbalances, drought mitigation, climate impacts, impaired water treatment, wastewater reuse, and low impact development are administered through Reclamation’s Planning, Water Conservation Field Services, and WaterSMART programs.
