Colorado Teacher's Conservation Workshop - Sponsored by: Colorado Association of Soil and Conservation Districts
As part of an effort to ensure an adequate future water supply in the desert New Mexico climate, Reclamation, the state of New Mexico, and the Santa Fe Metropolitan Board represented by the Santa Fe Water Conservation Reclamation provided assistance to the Colorado Association of Soil and Conservation Districts (CASCD) in planning and conducting the annual Colorado Teacher's Conservation Workshop since 1996. Reclamation's Western Colorado Area Office and La Plata Soil Conservation District hosted the event in Durango, Colorado from 1999 to 2001. The purpose of the workshop was to educate K-12 teachers about natural resources to generate interest in incorporating natural resources issues in classroom curriculum. Over 20 different local, state, tribal, and federal agencies have partnered with Reclamation in organizing and conducting the event which drew over 120 teachers from four states in the three year period.
