History

Judge Francis Carr was originally designated Clear Creek Powerplant. The units were uprated in 1984. Generation of power from water exported from the Trinity River Basin. Turbine replacement feasibility study starts in 2003. Plant power production has a degree of fluctuation from tunnel wall organic and mineral coating. Trinity County has first preference to the power benefit for the Central Valley Project from the Judge Francis Carr Powerplant.

Plan

Judge Francis Carr Powerplant is a peaking plant which is dedicated first to meeting the energy requirements of the project facilities. The remaining energy is marketed to various preference customers in northern California. The Judge Francis Carr Powerhouse has two generators with a total capacity of 154,400 kilowatts.
