Overview
Soldier Creek Dam, completed in 1974, is a zoned earthfill structure 272 feet high with a crest length of 1,290 feet. Located on the Strawberry River it was completed in 1974.
Geology
The Strawberry Reservoir is underlain by two Tertiary age formations, the Uinta and Green River. Beds of the Uinta formation are typical fluvial sediments consisting of interbedded, gradational, and interlensed sandstone, siltstone, and shale. This formation conformably overlies the Green River formation, which is typically of lacustrine origin. It consists chiefly of fairly even and continuous beds of siltstone and shale with some limestone and calcareous sandstone beds. The makeup and general nature of these two formations make them naturally impervious.
