Public Notice: The Bureau of Reclamation will temporarily close Black Canyon Park in Emmett on Saturday, Aug. 17, 2024. The park will be closed until 2:00 p.m. Catch a Special Thrill (C.A.S.T.) for Kids will be held that day for children with disabilities from the Emmett, Horseshoe Bend, and Boise areas. Black Canyon Park is a 12-acre site, approximately 1.5 miles upstream of Black Canyon Dam along Highway 52. The park is situated at the edge of a gentle slope with large grassy areas and numerous shade trees, overlooking the dam’s reservoir. The park is open dawn-to-dusk, year-round. There is a kiosk at the gate where an $8.00 entrance fee must be paid before entering the park, or a season pass is available for $35 ($30 to renew an existing pass).
Park amenities are as follows:
- Individual picnic tables
- Two group picnic gazebos
- Pedestal barbeques
- Unsupervised beach and swimming area
- Horseshoe pit
- Boat launch
- Potable water
- Four vault toilets
The group picnic gazeboes are available to rent for $150/day per gazebo. Each gazebo has electric power and can accommodate approximately 50 people. A code associated with the reservation is programmed into the gate to allow park access.
