Southern Idaho Water Quality Coalition Sediment and Phosphorous Removal Ponds Project Environmental Assessment
The Bureau of Reclamation issued a Finding of No Significant Impact (FONSI) on November 5, 2020 for the Southern Idaho Water Quality Coalition’s (SIWQC) WaterSMART grant proposal to partially fund sedimentation and phosphorus removal ponds on canals within the Twin Falls Canal Company in Twin Falls, Idaho.
Pond cells would be constructed off the original canal alignments to preserve the original canal for flood control. The ponds are expected to remove total suspended solids (TSS) and total phosphorus (TP) from these Snake River tributaries. This project would add eight sediment pond cells to the O Coulee Allen project and five to Auger Falls Lateral 43 project site.
The analysis of the alternatives is documented in an environmental assessment and the proposed action has been selected as it would have no significant impacts.
