Warm, sunny weather, fishing, and lots of smiles were just a few of the highlights enjoyed by participants at this year’s C.A.S.T. for Kids event on October 7, at Lake Powell, in Arizona. There were a total of 27 participants at the event, and 14 boat captains who volunteered their time and boats to provide attendees with the most memorable of fishing experiences.

The C.A.S.T. for Kids Foundation provides participants with their very own fishing gear, including a rod and reel, and tackle box. Their new equipment is immediately put to use as they venture out onto the water to experience a day of fun and fishing.

Participants spent the day learning the basic rules of fishing from local experts, and were able to put those new skills to the test. The fish were biting, and most participants were able to reel in a fish of their very own. After their time on the water, a delicious picnic lunch was provided to participants and volunteers, followed by a celebratory awards ceremony at the end of the day.

C.A.S.T. for Kids events provide children with disadvantages and/or disabilities with a unique recreation experience they may not otherwise have the opportunity to enjoy. The C.A.S.T. for Kids Foundation is a public charity, formed in 1991, to join volunteers who love to fish with children with disabilities and/or disadvantages, for a day of fishing.
