A beautiful, early fall day of 69 degrees greeted participants and volunteers at the Lake Thunderbird, Oklahoma, C.A.S.T. for Kids event on September 9, 2017. With 40 volunteers, the community showed up in a big way to create an unforgettable day for a special group of kids.

The 40 volunteers hosted 29 children with disabilities and disadvantages got to learn about fishing from local experts; spending the day out in nature, soaking up the fresh air and sunshine. The lake was calm, making for the perfect day to catch a lot of fish. The boat captains and participants were eager to get started.

Several children caught multiple fish and didn't mind showing them off upon their return to shore.

The C.A.S.T. for Kids Foundation is a public 501(c)3 Charitable Organization. It was formed in 1991 to connect volunteers who love fishing and the outdoors with disabled and disadvantaged children for a day of fishing.

We want to thank the staff, volunteers, and sponsors who made this event possible, and all the great participants for bringing their best attitudes, and their willingness to learn, explore, and have fun.
