Kids participating in this year’s Snake River C.A.S.T. for Kids Event had the time of their lives. Nearly three dozen community members came out to volunteer, and 25 children participated. The event was held at the Burley Golf Course Boat Docks.

The fish were out to play, too! Almost all of the participants were able to catch their own fish, which enabled them to utilize their new fishing skills on the water.

Otto Otter and Smokey the Bear came out to play, the kids were thrilled. The weather couldn’t have been better, and all of this year’s participants – children, family members, and volunteers alike, are looking forward to coming back again next year.

Before the event concluded, children took part in an award’s ceremony. Each participant received a special plaque for recognition.

During this special event, children with disabilities and disadvantages enjoy the opportunity to learn all there is to know about fishing from local experts. On the day of the event, participants are equipped with free fishing gear, and the excitement is topped off with a lunchtime barbecue to celebrate the day’s festivities.

The C.A.S.T. for Kids Foundation is a public 501(c)3 Charitable Organization. It was formed in 1991 to connect volunteers who love fishing and the outdoors with disabled and disadvantaged children for a day of fishing.

We want to thank the Cassia County Sheriff's Department, the staff and volunteers, and all of the businesses in the Magic Valley area that pitched in to make the event a wonderful success.
