The Bureau of Reclamation awarded a contract to ASI-RCC of Buena Vista, Colorado for the first part of a phased rehabilitation of Upper Stillwater Dam. The contract was awarded on August 1, 2003. The work will involve the removal and replacement of concrete parapets on top of the dam, the construction of a reinforced concrete gallery entrance canopy on the downstream face of the dam, the installation of drainage holes at 14 locations within the dam, designing, manufacturing and installing an interior membrane system at three locations near the upstream face of the dam, and the injection of chemical grout into the dam.

Upper Stillwater Dam is a concrete gravity dam constructed with roller compacted concrete. It is a feature of the Bonneville Unit of the Central Utah Project. It impounds an approximately 32,000 acre-feet reservoir at an elevation of nearly 8,200 feet. It is located in the Uinta Mountains, about 120 miles east of Salt Lake City, Utah and about 40 miles northwest of Duchesne, Utah. The construction of the dam was completed in 1987 and it is operated by the Central Utah Water Conservancy District. The cost of the work is $5,589,355, and it is expected to be completed by November 2004.
