Reclamation Joins Other Resource Agencies in Bans on Burning at All Outdoor Recreation Sites

The Bureau of Reclamation has joined other natural resource agencies in Idaho in restricting outdoor fires at certain campgrounds and picnic areas under Reclamation's jurisdiction.

While the threat of fires continues and there is a potential for loss of life or property damage, Reclamation will adhere to standards already in place at many public campgrounds around Idaho.

In accordance with the Stage II Fire Restrictions policy, the following acts are prohibited until further notice:

1. Building, maintaining, attending or using fire or campfire. 2. Smoking, except within an enclosed vehicle or building, a developed recreation site, or while stopped in area with a 3 foot diameter area cleared of all flammable materials. 3. The following acts are prohibited from 1:00 p.m. - 1:00 a.m.: a. Operating a chainsaw or other equipment powered by an internal combustion engine. b. Other activities that generate flame or flammable material, such as welding or blasting. c. A patrol is required for one hour following cessation of all work as described in "a" and "b" 4. Operating motorized vehicles off designated roads and trails.
