The Visitor Center at Grand Coulee Dam will be closed on Thanksgiving Day, November 24, according to the Bureau of Reclamation.

The center will then be open from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. daily for the remainder of the month and will close for the winter on December 1, reopening on February 1, 2006.

While the Center is closed, for more information on Grand Coulee Dam, visit the Bureau of Reclamation's Internet site at www.usbr.gov/pn/grandcoulee or call (509) 633-9503.

Grand Coulee Dam is located on the Columbia River and it is central to the operation of the Columbia Basin Project. The dam's generators produce approximately 20 billion kilowatts of electricity in an average water year, enough to supply more than 1 million homes. In addition to hydroelectric production, the multipurpose Grand Coulee Dam provides irrigation, flood control, recreation, fish and wildlife, and other benefits.
