For Release: November 09, 2005

The Bureau of Reclamation announces the availability of the draft Final Environmental Assessment (EA) for the conditional pre-approval of multiple water service actions between long-term CVP contractors and prospective non-CVP contractors in the lower San Joaquin Valley.  The proposed actions include deliveries of surplus water, transfers, and exchanges of CVP water.  These water service actions would allow improved timing and flexibility in water management throughout the lower San Joaquin Valley.  The Draft EA was circulated in August 2005, and no comments were received.

The draft Final EA was prepared in accordance with the National Environmental Policy Act and is available for informational purposes online at http://www.usbr.gov/mp/nepa/index.cfm and click on SCCAO.  The EA will be finalized upon conclusion of informal consultation with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service.  Reclamation anticipates a Finding of No Significant Impact will be signed in December 2005.  To request a copy of the document, please contact Ms. Lynne Silva at 559-487-5807 or e-mail lsilva@mp.usbr.gov.
