For Release: October 31, 2005

The Bureau of Reclamation has prepared an Environmental Assessment (EA) to analyze the impacts of transferring title of the Fallon Freight Yard from Reclamation to the City of Fallon. The transfer is authorized under Public Law 107-339, dated December 16, 2002. Reclamation has undertaken a program to transfer title of agency facilities that are not of national importance and could be efficiently and effectively managed by non-federal entities.

The Fallon Freight Yard is located at 380 North Taylor Street in Fallon, Nevada. The Freight Yard is 6.3 acres in size and is currently a feature of Reclamations Newlands Project. Reclamation leases the rail freight loading facility to Premier Chemical. The City of Fallon intends to continue operation of the loading facility after transfer of title.

The EA is available online at http://www.usbr.gov/mp/nepa/nepa_project_details.php?Project_ID=1851 and is also available to the public in the Beck Library at Western Nevada Community College - Fallon Campus and the Churchill County Library, both located in Fallon.

Written comments on the EA should be submitted by close of business on Monday, November 30, 2005, and should be mailed to Ms. Caryn Huntt DeCarlo, Bureau of Reclamation, 705 North Plaza Street, Room 320, Carson City, NV 89701-4015, or faxed to 775-882-7592, or e-mailed to chunttdecarlo@mp.usbr.gov. For more information or to request a copy of the EA, please contact Ms. DeCarlo at 775-884-8352 or Ms. Terri Edwards at 775-884-8353.
