For Release: October 26, 2005

Colorado River flows below Parker Dam will be lower than normal this Thursday, October 27, so Reclamation technicians can replace a gauging instrument in the river.

From midnight through 2:00 p.m. PDT on Thursday, releases from the dam are expected to range from 2,300 cubic feet per second (cfs) down to 1,400 cfs. After 2:00 p.m., the releases are expected to return to normal hourly amounts of up to 13,800 cfs.

Immediately below Headgate Rock Dam, flows may drop to 800 cubic feet per second or less for much of Thursday.

All river users should remember that fluctuating river flows may conceal or create natural hazards such as moving sandbars, gravel bars, unstable riverbanks, floating or submerged debris, or other unfamiliar obstacles. Caution should always be exercised while using the river between Davis Dam and the Mexican border at San Luis, Arizona.
