Hungry Horse Dam Visitor Center Opens for Summer

The Hungry Horse Field Office announces the opening of the Visitor Center for the 2004 summer tourist season, according to Facility Manager, Ralph Carter.

Hungry Horse Dam is located off Highway 2 in Hungry Horse, Montana. If traveling East through Columbia Falls, watch for sign on East side of Hungry Horse, top of hill, past Forest Service. Turn right and travel approximately 4 ½ miles to the Visitor Center which is located at the north end of the dam's crest.

The Visitor Center will open June 1. Guided tours of the top of the dam only start at the Visitor Center and are available from 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. every hour on the hour, seven days a week. The Visitor Center will close on September 4.

Parking is allowed only in designated areas and not on top of the dam roadway.

Admission to the Visitor Center and guided tour program is free.
