The Bureau of Reclamation awarded a $995,127 construction contract for excavation and concrete repair work around Tieton Dam located on the Tieton River about 32 miles northwest of Yakima, Washington.

Concord Construction Inc., of Wapato, Washington, was awarded the contract on March 5 and should have the project completed by Oct. 31, 2004.

The contract work consists of excavation at base of the Tieton Dam abutment, removing the rock debris fence and installing new fence material, hydro-blasting debris from the right spillway wall and left face abutment, and new concrete where specified in the contract.

Tieton Dam, constructed in 1927, is a 319-foot high earthfill structure impounding Rimrock Lake. Tieton Dam is operated as part of Reclamation's Yakima Project.
