For Release: March 19, 2004

A contract for approximately $108,000 for repair of a component of the generator rotor of Green Springs Power Plant was recently awarded to General Electric International, Inc., of North Salt Lake, Utah. The power plant was removed from service March 15.

According to the Bureau of Reclamation, the Green Springs generator is a critical component of the overall irrigation system for southern Oregon. Since water deliveries must be maintained, the downtime for this unit must be as short as possible and is expected to be completed by April 23 and back on line about a month later.

The Green Springs power plant on southern Oregons Rogue River Project generates approximately 65 million kilowatt hours of electricity or enough to power approximately 4,600 homes for one year.
