GET W.E.T. AT GRANITE BAY STATE PARK - FOLSOM LAKE

Reclamation's American River Water Education Center will host the fourth annual Get W.E.T. - Water Education Today - event on Saturday, May 31, 2003, from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.

This family-oriented event will include a variety of interactive displays to teach visitors about the American River watershed and responsible water use.

Included will be children's activities such as making a water cycle bracelet, investigating various plants, and learning how much water is in their food. Adults can view irrigation demonstrations, a waterless car wash demonstration, and much more. Visitors will also be able to view this year's winning posters from the water awareness poster contest. Prizes will be awarded to attendees who complete a special passport activity.

Organizations involved in the event include local water suppliers and districts, State and Federal agencies and organizations, as well as various gardening and nature related organizations. A few of the participants include Reclamation, California State Parks, California Department of Water Resources, California Department of Fish and Game, Citrus Heights Water District, Bay Model Visitor Center, Master Gardeners, Rain Bird, Inc., Niagara Conservation, and the City of Folsom.

Directions to Granite Bay State Park:

From Highway 80: Exit on Douglas Boulevard in Roseville heading east towards Granite Bay, and continue approximately 6 miles. Cross over Auburn-Folsom Road and proceed approximately 1 mile to the Granite Bay State Park entrance.

From Highway 50: Take the Folsom Boulevard exit, and turn left onto Folsom Boulevard. Continue approximately 7.5 miles. Turn right on Douglas Blvd. Proceed approximately 1 mile to the Granite Bay State Park entrance.
