Event To Recognize Five Oregon Irrigation Districts With Water 2025 Challenge Grants

Bureau of Reclamation Commissioner John Keys will attend an award ceremony on October 12 in Bend, Oregon, to announce Water 2025 Challenge Grants being awarded to five Oregon irrigation districts.

Commissioner Keys will join the award recipients and honored guests at the Deschutes River Ranch, 20210 Swalley Road, at 11:00 a.m.

The five Oregon irrigation districts and their respective project descriptions include:

Vale Oregon Irrigation District of Vale, Oregon Project: Pipe 7.1 miles of unlined irrigation laterals Total: $871,050 / Water 2025 portion: $300,000

Three Sisters Irrigation District of Sisters, Oregon Project: Pipe 2.5 miles of unlined irrigation canals Total: $1,119,292 / Water 2025 portion: $300,000

Swalley Irrigation District of Bend, Oregon Project: Use remote sensing and GIS to increase water use efficiencies for 19 irrigation districts Total: $365,218 / Water 2025 portion: $182,609

Grants Pass Irrigation District of Grants Pass, Oregon Project: Pipe and culvert 1/2 mile of open irrigation laterals Total $34,202 / Water 2025 portion: $16,538

East Fork Irrigation District of Odell, Oregon Project: Pipe 1 mile of the Central Canal and pipe an unlined ditch Total $1,338,000 / Water 2025 portion: $300,000

The Water 2025 Challenge Grant Program funds activities that will make more efficient use of existing water supplies through water conservation, efficiency and water market projects. More information about the Water 2025 Program can be found at http://www.doi.gov/water2025/.
