Pedestrian Traffic Allowed On Shasta Dam

Starting on Friday, July 4, 2003, Reclamation will allow pedestrian traffic on the roadway across Shasta Dam from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily. As a security precaution, vehicular and pedestrian access to Shasta Dam has been restricted since September 11, 2001.

The Shasta Dam Visitor Center's summer hours are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Reclamation Guides will be available in the Visitor Center and on the dam to answer pedestrians' questions and to give informational presentations.

Vehicle traffic will continue to be allowed across the dam with the required access permit. Additional information is available online at www.usbr.gov/mp, or from the Shasta Dam Security Office at 530-275-4253.
