For Release: August 20, 2003

The water level of Guernsey Reservoir will be lowered earlier than usual due to the drought conditions and the decreased irrigation water supply according to John H. Lawson, Wyoming Area Manager of the Bureau of Reclamation in Mills, Wyoming.

During the week of August 25, 2003, the release of water from Glendo Reservoir will be decreased from the current flow of approximately 5000 cubic feet per second (cfs). The Guernsey Reservoir level will decline approximately 12 feet causing the boat ramps to become unusable by August 28, 2003.

Boaters, recreationists, and irrigators should take proper precautions regarding changing river flows between Glendo and Guernsey Reservoirs and the lowering of Guernsey Reservoir.
