ELK CREEK, Calif. - The Bureau of Reclamation has scheduled a seasonal closure at Stony Gorge Reservoir from Oct. 15, 2019, through Mar. 31, 2020, weather permitting. Annual closures allow Reclamation to perform necessary maintenance tasks and enhance natural resource recovery.

Skippers Point boat launch and the surrounding day-use area remain open year-round. Accessing the shoreline by foot can be difficult in areas due to weather conditions. Reclamation encourages visitors to use caution for all lake activities

The following campsites will be closed for the season:

  • Pines Group Site
  • Grimy Gulch I, II, III
  • Elk Creek Hill
  • Hidden Point
  • Stony Point
  • Fig Orchard I and Fig Orchard II.
The Stony Gorge Reservoir Ranger Station is located at 2551 County Road 304 in Elk Creek and remains open during the off-season. Contact the station for more information at 530-685-8618 or visit https://www.recreation.gov/camping/gateways/46.
