Reclamation announces seasonal New Melones Lake area closures and hours

SONORA, Calif. – The Bureau of Reclamation has scheduled recreation area closures at New Melones Lake from Oct. 1 through Dec. 31, 2019. These closures allow Reclamation to perform necessary maintenance tasks and allow for natural resource recovery.

  • Tuttletown Recreation Area closures: Acorn and Chamise Campgrounds and Oak Knoll Group Camp. All other Tuttletown locations remain open.
  • Glory Hole Recreation Area closures: Ironhorse Campground, Osprey Point Day Use Area, and Angel’s Creek Boat Launch. All other Glory Hole locations remain open.
  • Beginning Oct. 1, 2019, both recreation areas’ entrance gates will close at 9 p.m.
  • Beginning Oct. 1, 2019, the New Melones Lake Visitor Center & Museum will open Wednesday through Sunday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., as staffing allows, and close on Monday and Tuesday.
The New Melones Administration Office is open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., and is located at 6850 Studhorse Flat Road, Sonora, CA 95370.
