For Release: November 13, 2003

Reclamation and the California Department of Water Resources, in coordination with other Federal and State agencies, have scheduled a public information meeting on the Operations Criteria and Plan (OCAP), the South Delta Improvement Program, and related CALFED programs and activities.

The public meeting will be held:

In Sacramento Tuesday, November 25, 2003 1 - 5 p.m. Red Lion Sacramento Inn, Yosemite Room 1401 Arden Way, Sacramento, CA

The OCAP has been prepared to serve as a baseline description of the facilities and operating environment of the Central Valley Project and the State Water Project. The OCAP identifies many factors influencing the decision-making process and physical and institutional conditions under which the projects currently operate. The OCAP also describes future operations with certain new facilities and operating criteria in place. Regulatory and legal requirements are explained and alternative operating models and strategies are described in the OCAP.

The South Delta Improvements Program (SDIP) is one of the proposed projects incorporated into the OCAP future operation scenario. A Draft Environmental Impact Report/Statement for the SDIP is planned to be available December 2003. The project alternatives, the preferred project alternative, and the results of selected analyses will be presented.

For additional information, please contact Ms. Ann Lubas-Williams at 916-979-2068, TDD 916-979-2183.
