Reclamation prohibits charcoal or wood fires during Red Flag Warnings at Lake Berryessa

NAPA, Calif. – The Bureau of Reclamation is increasing fire restrictions at Lake Berryessa during Red Flag Warnings. Reclamation is prohibiting the use of charcoal or wood fires, even in established fire rings and grills, during Red Flag Warnings at Lake Berryessa. A Red Flag Warning, the highest wildfire alert, means that potentially dangerous weather conditions (hot/dry/windy) may result in extreme fire behavior within 24 hours.
When Red Flag Warning conditions are in effect, the wind has the highest potential to blow fire embers that can easily ignite fast-burning wildfires. Visitors may use propane cook stoves during their stay and are encouraged to regularly check weather conditions before choosing to grill outdoors.
Park staff and posted signs will inform visitors of Red Flag Warning conditions at recreation entrances. These new restrictions apply to all Lake Berryessa Reclamation lands including, but not limited to, EcoCamp Berryessa, Eticuera Day Use, Oak Shores Day Use, Smittle Creek Day Use, Capell Cove, Olive Orchard, Putah Canyon, Pope Creek Day Use, Spanish Flat, Steele Canyon, Pleasure Cove, Markley Cove Recreation Area, Lake Solano County Park, and Markley turnouts.
