New Melones Lake Campgrounds Convert To New Reservation System

Reclamation's New Melones Lake campgrounds have joined the interagency National Recreation Reservation Service (NRRS), a one-stop reservation service for campground sites that serves the U.S. Forest Service, National Park Service, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, and Bureau of Land Management.
As of December 3, 2003, individual campsites in the Tuttletown and Glory Hole Recreation areas are available by reservation for the period April 1-September 30, 2004. During the remainder of the year, individual campsites are available on a first-come, first-served system. Group campgrounds can also be reserved year-round as of December 3, 2003. Visitors can make reservations on the NRRS Web site at www.ReserveUSA.com or by calling toll free 1-877-444-6777. New Melones visitors may reserve individual campsites up to 240 days in advance and group campgrounds up to 360 days in advance, and campers will now know with certainty that their campsite will be available upon their arrival.
Beginning April 1, 2004, fees for individual campsites will change slightly. The nightly cost of a standard family campsite (up to 8 people and 2 vehicles) will increase from $14 to $16. The nightly cost of a walk-in campsite (up to 4 people and 1 vehicle) will decrease from $14 to $12. These changes are being made to help finance the cost of the reservation service and to more fairly reflect the value received from a walk-in campsite.
