For Release: December 08, 2003

Reclamation's Klamath Basin Area Office, in conjunction with the Denver Technical Services Center, has issued a draft analysis of the Klamath River.

The report entitled the Undepleted Natural Flow Study of the Upper Klamath River examines the river flows that occurred before the development of the Klamath Basin Irrigation Project.

The draft report has been submitted for review to scientists associated with the numerous interests in the Klamath Basin including State, Tribal, and stakeholder groups. Reclamation is also asking Chicago-based Argonne National Laboratories to provide an independent evaluation of the report.

A 60-day review period has been outlined for the completion of the flow study prior to its finalization. The complete report and a summary may be found on Reclamation's Web site at: www.usbr.gov/mp/kbao.
