Reclamation awards Boca Dam safety modification construction contract

TRUCKEE, Calif. – The Bureau of Reclamation has awarded a $19.7 million construction contract to NW Construction Inc. of Bozeman, Montana, for Boca Dam safety modifications. Boca Dam, 6 miles northeast of Truckee, will be modified to better resist seismic forces during an earthquake.

Construction may begin as early as April 2019 and continue until October 2020. During this time, Stampede Meadows Road will remain open with the use of traffic control, but the road over Boca Dam will be closed. Additionally, from June 2019 to November 2019 the reservoir will be operated 28 feet lower during construction. More information about the project can be found at: www.usbr.gov/mp/sod/projects/boca
