Road Restrictions Begin at Lake Berryessa

The Bureau of Reclamation is working closely with Napa County Public Works, California Highway Patrol, Napa County Sheriffs Office, California Department of Forestry, and local resort concessionaires to improve visitor safety around Lake Berryessa. New parking restrictions will go into effect on July 1, 2005. Roadside parking restrictions and tow-away zones will be added to Knoxville-Berryessa Road and Pope Canyon Road, around the Pope Creek Bridge area.

The Knoxville-Berryessa and Pope Canyon Roads are county roads that provide access to the west and north shores of the lake. They service four resorts, two public day-use areas, a public launch ramp, several small stores, and three private residential areas. These restrictions will allow for better access for emergency vehicles. Additional parking limitations are being added as a public safety precaution for pedestrians along these roadways and to allow better emergency vehicle access to high traffic areas of the lake.
