Reclamation announces seasonal changes to New Melones Lake park hours and recreation areas

SONORA, Calif. - The Bureau of Reclamation announced today seasonal changes to park hours and recreation areas at New Melones Lake beginning October 1. These annual changes allow Reclamation staff to perform necessary maintenance on facilities and for natural resource recovery in the park’s recreation areas.

The closures will continue through March 31, 2019. The seasonal changes beginning October 1 include:

  • Closures in the Tuttletown Recreation Area: Chamise Campground, Manzanita Campgrounds and Oak Knoll Group Camp.
  • Closures in the Glory Hole Recreation Area: Osprey Point Day Use Area, Ironhorse Campground and Big Oak Campground, sites 133-144.
  • Gates for both recreation areas will close at 9:00 p.m.
  • The New Melones Lake Visitor Center & Museum will open Wednesday through Sunday from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. It will close on Mondays and Tuesdays.

For the Tuttletown Recreation Area, Acorn Campground and the Fiddleneck Group Camp will remain open. For the Glory Hole Recreation Area, Big Oak Campground, sites 90-132, and all other areas not listed above will remain open.
