HEBER CITY, Utah – The Bureau of Reclamation’s Upper Colorado Region will host its 22nd annual Catch a Special Thrill for Kids event at Strawberry Reservoir, Soldier Creek Recreation Area, on Saturday, August 11, from 6:30 am to 1:30 pm.

The C.A.S.T. for Kids program provides one-day fishing and boating events designed to accommodate children with a wide range of special needs. The children and their families or caretakers get to spend a day on the water with volunteer anglers learning to fish. Participating children will receive their own fishing rod and reel, t-shirt, hat and tackle box. Family members will join in shore-side activities and lunch at Bugler’s Knob Group Pavilion.

Directions from Salt Lake City: Take I-80 to Highway 40. Follow Highway 40 South to Strawberry Reservoir, take the second exit (Soldier Creek) and follow the road to the marina. “C.A.S.T. for Kids” signs will be posted.

Due to limited parking, there will be shuttle service between the marina and the group pavilion. There will be no parking at the pavilion this year due to safety issues but some exceptions apply. Please contact David Isleman for a parking permit at disleman@usbr.gov.

Partners include the C.A.S.T. for Kids Foundation, Reclamation, Central Utah Water Conservancy District, Strawberry Highline Canal Company, Strawberry Water Users Association, Weber Basin Water Conservancy District, and many local sponsors.

Participants and volunteers can register online at the C.A.S.T. for Kids Foundation website: http://castforkids.org/event/strawberryreservoir/.
