Sacramento, Calif. - The Bureau of Reclamation’s Mid-Pacific Region announced today Mario Manzo is the new Deputy Manager for the Mid-Pacific Region’s Bay Delta Office.

“Mario’s extensive knowledge of Reclamation and the MP Region are an asset in fulfilling the Bay Delta Office’s mission,” said David Mooney, Area Manager for the Bay-Delta Area Office. “His experience and leadership make a perfect fit for this position, and we are excited to welcome him to our team.”

As deputy, Manzo will provide support to the Bay-Delta Office Manager for activities that include implementation of biological opinions for the coordinated operations of the Central Valley Project and State Water Project, coordination and implementation actions required in the Reasonable and Prudent Alternatives in the Fish and Wildlife Service 2008 and National Marine Fisheries Service 2009 biological opinions, implementation of the Suisin Marsh Preservation Agreement, Reclamation activities associated with the California WaterFix, and engagement with the Science Task Force and the Interagency Ecological Program. The Bay Delta Office also partners with other federal, state and local agencies, water and power stakeholders, the environmental community, and the public to address these urgent and emerging priorities.

Manzo began his career with Reclamation in 2005 in Yuma, Arizona, as a repayment specialist. Since that time, his expertise led him to the Mid-Pacific Region in roles as project manager in the Planning Division, lead for the Water Management Goal for the San Joaquin River Restoration Program and Chief of the Contracts and Water Rights Branch.

In addition to his experience at Reclamation, Manzo holds a bachelors in Economics from the University of Arizona. He began his role as Deputy Manager on Monday, March 5.
