Reclamation Names New Manager for Albuquerque Area Office

Salt Lake City, Utah - The Bureau of Reclamation has named Connie L. Rupp as the new manager of the Albuquerque Area Office. She will be responsible for Reclamation programs in the Rio Grande, Pecos River, and Canadian River Basins and will supervise six field offices in portions of Colorado, New Mexico, and west Texas. Reclamation's projects also serve 19 Native American pueblos and three tribes.

Rupp is currently the Assistant Regional Director of the Upper Colorado Region, located in Salt Lake City. In announcing her appointment, Regional Director Rick Gold said, "Connie Rupp has been heavily involved in sensitive New Mexico issues concerning the Rio Grande and Pecos Basins, including the various lawsuits, water rights, and endangered species issues. With her established strong relationships with the water districts and the State of New Mexico, she has all the necessary skills to do an exceptional job as the Area Manager."

Rupp has been the Assistant Regional Director since February of 2002. Prior to that time she was the Salt Lake City Regional Office Division Chief for the Resource Management Division. She is a graduate of the University of Utah's College of Law, a member of the Utah Bar Association, holds a B.A. degree from the University of Minnesota, and is a certified mediator with extensive experience in issue facilitation. Rupp is a graduate of the Office of Personal Management's Women's Executive Leadership Program.

Rupp is especially experienced in natural resources and water law issues. She was the supervisor of the Regional Water Rights Office in Reclamation's Mid Pacific Region.

Rupp will succeed current Area Manager Jack Garner upon his retirement at the end of the year. She will join the Albuquerque Area Office later this year.
