SACRAMENTO, Calif. - The Bureau of Reclamation has signed a finding of no significant impact for continued delivery, transfer and exchange of San Joaquin River Restoration Program Restoration Flows for Friant Division long-term contractors. Reclamation will continue to approve recirculation of up to 260,000 acre-feet of recaptured Restoration Flows from San Luis Reservoir for beneficial use by Friant Division long-term contractors until completion of a future long-term plan, environmental impact statement/report and record of decision. Recirculation to Friant contractors is accomplished through direct delivery, exchange and/or transfer to other Friant contractors or non-Friant contractors, but not in excess of existing water contract amounts. The water is conveyed through existing facilities and does not involve new construction or modification to existing facilities. No changes have occurred that result in additional or more substantial impacts from what was analyzed and disclosed in a 2013 environmental assessment; the proposed action is consistent with the restoration program’s water management goal—to reduce or avoid water supply impacts to Friant Division long-term contractors.
