FOLSOM, Calif. – The Bureau of Reclamation released a draft environmental document for public review to renew a 5-year non-Central Valley Project Warren Act contract for the Sacramento Suburban Water District. Public comments on the draft document are due Feb. 1.

The proposed action would execute a “wet-year only”, delivering annually up to 14,500 acre-feet of water through Folsom Reservoir for municipal and industrial uses in Sacramento Suburban Water District’s service area in north-central Sacramento County. The term of the contract would be from March 1, 2018, through Feb. 28, 2023. Deliveries would be made through existing facilities and no new construction is required.

In the event a new longer-term contract is executed, the 5-year contract would be superseded by the longer-term agreement. Any new longer-term contract would be analyzed under a separate environmental process.

A draft environmental assessment was prepared in accordance with the National Environmental Policy Act and is available at https://www.usbr.gov/mp/nepa/nepa_project_details.php?Project_ID=30761.
