Boulder City, Nev. — The Bureau of Reclamation, in cooperation with the Bureau of Land Management, issued a Draft Environmental Assessment today for the Planet Ranch Conservation Area. The Draft EA details Reclamation’s proposed development and management of several acres of native riparian habitat and backwaters, and associated facilities. It also explains conservation efforts of species covered under the agency’s Lower Colorado River Multi-Species Conservation Program within Planet Ranch in northwestern Arizona.

The LCR MSCP is a 50-year multi-stakeholder federal and non-federal partnership that was created to balance the use of Lower Colorado River water resources with the conservation of native species and their habitats in compliance with the Endangered Species Act.

The Draft EA, which was prepared in compliance with the National Environmental Policy Act, is available for public review and comment on Reclamation’s website at: https://www.usbr.gov/lc/region/g2000/envdocs.html. Comments must be postmarked by Friday, January 5, 2018. Please send written comments to the Bureau of Reclamation, Attn: LC-2624, P.O. Box 61470, Boulder City, NV 89006. Electronic comments may be submitted to prj-lcr-nepa@usbr.gov.

To request a compact disk or paper copy of the Draft EA, or for questions, please contact Ms. Heidi McMaster, Environmental Protection Specialist, at 702-293-8560.

The Arizona Game and Fish Department, Reclamation and BLM will conduct a multi-agency open house to provide information about various opportunities for public recreation and the future developments in the Planet Ranch area.
