Bureau of Reclamation releases environmental documents and finding of no significant impact for Stockdale East Groundwater Recharge Project

SACRAMENTO, Calif. - The Bureau of Reclamation released the environmental assessment and finding of no significant impact for the Stockdale East Groundwater Recharge Project. The project will construct a 200-acre groundwater recharge pond, allowing it to save around 8,700 acre-feet of water per year.

Reclamation selected the Rosedale–Rio Bravo Water Storage District to receive a $1 million WaterSMART Water and Energy Efficiency Grant for this project in 2016. It is located 6 miles west of Bakersfield, California. An adjacent 30 acres are slated for access roads, staging areas and a new intake pumping plant expected to save around 6,870 acre-feet of water per year.

Reclamation prepared the Environmental Assessment and Finding of No Significant Impact detailing possible environmental effects of providing this funding.
