BOISE, Idaho – The Bureau of Reclamation awarded a $21.7 million contract to Greenberry Industrial LLC in Vancouver, Washington, to replace reverse flow gates at the John W. Keys III Pump Generating Plant, a feature of the Grand Coulee Power Complex in Grand Coulee, Washington.

"The Keys plant provides water for irrigation, renewable hydropower, and supports jobs and significant economic vitality in the region," said Reclamation’s Acting Commissioner Alan Mikkelsen. "Building major infrastructure such as this is one thing -- making sure it runs at peak efficiency is a top priority. We are making this significant investment in one of the key projects in our portfolio as part of this administration’s focus on infrastructure renewal and repair across America. This project will help ensure the Keys plant continues to effectively support the 680,000 acres of farmland that depend on it for irrigation."

The principal components of work include replacement and rehabilitation of reverse flow gates for pump units 1 through 6, and pump generator units 7 through 12, including work on the stems, hoists, hydraulic power units and controls, and exposed bypass piping. Construction activities will be conducted on two units per year. The work is scheduled to begin spring 2018 and be completed in 2024.

Greenberry Industrial, a general industrial fabricator and contractor, has more than 40 years of experience working on highly specialized, multi-faceted industrial projects throughout the United States. Their chief focus is on quality and safety, combined with a commitment to the client and local communities. They have received prestigious awards for their work.

Grand Coulee Dam, completed in 1941, is a multi-purposed facility and central to Reclamation’s Columbia Basin Project. The John W. Keys III Pump Generating Plant, located adjacent to Grand Coulee Dam, provides irrigation water to approximately 680,000 acres of farmland in the Columbia Basin Project in central Washington.
