FOLSOM, Calif. – An active shooter drill is planned for Wednesday at Folsom Dam, as part of ongoing security response training.

During the drill, scheduled between 8 and 10 a.m., Sacramento County Sheriff officers assigned to Folsom Dam will be moving throughout the facility with Reclamation employees locking down their workspaces.

Residents in the immediate area may witness officers moving about in tactical gear and carrying unloaded, brightly colored practice weapons. They may also hear simulated radio calls if they monitor law enforcement frequencies.

Impacts to the public outside the gated facility are not expected.
