SACRAMENTO, Calif. - The Bureau of Reclamation proposes to grant $350,865 to the University of California, Los Angeles, toward its research on landscape resistance and the movement of genes across a distinct range of California tiger salamander populations, and has prepared an Environmental Assessment to disclose potential effects associated with the research. The two years, six months of work will focus on four geographic management units for genetically distinct California tiger salamander populations in Santa Barbara County, Sonoma County, the western Central Valley and the eastern Central Valley.

The proposed action supports goals of the Central Valley Project Conservation Program and those included in the 2017 Recovery Plan for the Central California Distinct Population Segment of the California Tiger Salamander (Ambystoma californiense), published by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service.

The draft EA was prepared in accordance with the National Environmental Policy Act and is available at https://www.usbr.gov/mp/nepa/nepa_project_details.php?Project_ID=30081.
