Spill Exercise and Training to be Conducted at Patterson Lake

DICKINSON, N.D. -- A spill training exercise will be conducted on the south side of Reclamation's Patterson Lake located three miles southwest of Dickinson, N.D. The training exercise and associated activities are scheduled to take place during the month of September.

The purpose of the exercise is to practice exclusion, containment, and deflection booming, and to test emergency response. The exercise will bring together emergency response personnel and planners from the Bureau of Reclamation, and state and local agencies to promote preparedness and communication.

As part of the exercise, there will be a noticeable increase in personnel, equipment, and activity at Patterson Lake and near the Dickinson Dam.
