For Release: August 29, 2017

CHELAN COUNTY, WA – The Bureau of Reclamation is seeking comments on a draft Environmental Assessment (EA) for a habitat improvement project on the Entiat River in Chelan County, Washington. The proposed project would enhance fish habitat and floodplain connection along a four-mile stretch of the river through the construction of large woody material structures, re-establishment of side channels, and removal of a levee.

The project is intended to increase the amount of suitable habitat for fish and wildlife species that utilize the Entiat River with specific focus on fish listed under the Endangered Species Act.

The draft EA analyzes two actions: the Proposed Action (implementing the Project, as described above) and a No Action alternative (non-implementation). Reclamation is the lead agency for this draft EA and has prepared it in compliance with the National Environmental Policy Act.

The draft EA is available at https://www.usbr.gov/pn/programs/ea/wash/midentiat/index.html. Please send written comments to Ms. Rebecca Thompson, project manager, Bureau of Reclamation, 1150 N. Curtis Road, Suite 100, Boise, ID 83706 or via email at rthompson@usbr.gov no later than Sept. 27, 2017.

If you have any questions about this project, please contact Ms. Thompson at 208-378-5191.
