FOREST GROVE, Ore. – The Bureau of Reclamation will resume geologic investigations near Scoggins Dam the week of July 24. Reclamation crews will be working on both sides of the dam as well as downstream. Soil and rock samples will be collected from up to 50 sites to support ongoing analysis and design for Scoggins Dam seismic stability studies.

The work will include drilling, test pits, hand-excavated pits, and geophysics testing. Although no road closures are anticipated, temporary delays may be required to move equipment to the work areas.

Reclamation advises the public to be aware of drilling equipment near the dam and to avoid the area. The drill crews are expected to continue work through mid-December.

Scoggins Dam has been part of Reclamation’s Tualatin River Project since 1978. It stores water for agricultural, municipal, and water quality purposes.
