SACRAMENTO, Calif. – David Murillo, Regional Director for the Bureau of Reclamation’s Mid-Pacific Region, announces the selection of Erin Curtis as the Region’s Public Affairs Officer. In this position, Curtis will manage the Region’s public affairs, public involvement and public education programs. She will also be responsible for internal communications and media and congressional relations.

“Erin has worked directly with the media, the public, elected officials and representatives of federal, state and local government agencies for nearly 20 years—she gets it,” Murillo said. “Her outstanding communication and people skills are critical in this line of work, and of course, makes her a well-suited representative for Reclamation.”

Curtis most recently served as the Deputy State Director for Communications for the Bureau of Land Management’s Idaho State Office and worked in public affairs for BLM’s Alaska and California State offices. She is returning to the Mid-Pacific Region after serving as Public Affairs Officer in 2014 and 2015. Curtis began her career with the Association of California Water Agencies. She has also worked for the Municipal Water District of Orange County and as Director of Public Affairs for the Coast Community College District in Orange County.

Curtis, a native Californian, holds a master's degree in Public Administration from California State University, Long Beach, and a bachelor's degree in Government-Journalism from California State University, Sacramento.
