HEYBURN, Idaho – The Bureau of Reclamation announced today that the American Falls Reservoir west side boat ramp re-construction will be delayed. The ramp is expected to reopen June 14.

“We regret having to delay the re-opening but there’s much more clay-based material to remove from the site than we expected. Our contractor is working very hard to get the ramp functional,” says Upper Snake Field Office manager Ryan Newman.

Another factor affecting construction was ongoing weather related delays which limited contractor access to the site.

During the repair, the ramp will continue to remain closed to public access until construction is complete.

The repair project has two phases. Phase one will include repaving the parking lot and ramp approach. The restrooms also will be replaced to meet accessibility and construction standards that will improve public safety.

Phase two will begin in the fall when low reservoir levels will allow the contractor to remove and replace the old ramp.

Reclamation asks the public to continue to respect signage and contractor barriers during the construction period.
