Media Advisory: Reopening Ceremony Planned for Newly Designed Glen Canyon Visitors Center

Page, Ariz.—The Bureau of Reclamation and the National Park Service invites the media to attend the ceremony to celebrate the opening of the new educational and interactive displays at the Carl Hayden Visitors Center at Glen Canyon Dam April 4, 2017. Officials from Department of the Interior, Reclamation, National Park Service and the City of Page will join us to mark the occasion.

What: The Reopening Ceremony of the Carl Hayden Visitors Center at Glen Canyon Dam, celebrating the newly redesigned educational displays

When: Tuesday, April 4, 2017, at 10:00 a.m.

Where: Carl Hayden Visitors Center at Glen Canyon Dam near Page, Arizona Follow the signs to the visitors center at the top west of the dam. Why: To formally recognize and highlight the total redesign and installation of all of the displays in the visitors’ center.

Background: This is the first full redesign and replacement of all of the visitors’ center displays since the facility was originally opened in 1968. Several display replacements were installed since 1968, but this is the first full replacement of all the displays. The new informational and interactive displays are updated with the latest science and data and applied the latest educating techniques focusing on STEM (Science, Technical, Engineer, and Mathematics) careers.
