Reclamation Releases Environmental Assessment for Longhorn Fairy Shrimp Habitat Research Project in Contra Costa and Alameda Counties

SACRAMENTO, Calif. - The Bureau of Reclamation has prepared an Environmental Assessment on an interagency agreement providing $121,691.78 to the East Bay Regional Park District (EBRPD) to conduct a research project to improve conservation and management of the federally endangered longhorn fairy shrimp in Contra Costa and Alameda counties.
Research would be conducted at rock outcrop vernal pool habitats (rock pools) in the Vasco Caves Regional Preserve of the EBRPD and Los Vaqueros Reservoir of the Contra Costa Water District. Research would also be conducted at Brushy Peak Regional Preserve of the Livermore Area Recreation and Park District and on private lands in Alameda County.
The EA was prepared in accordance with the National Environmental Policy Act and is available for public review at http://www.usbr.gov/mp/nepa/nepa_project_details.php?Project_ID=24515.
